What Club membership means for you as a buyer

All Club members are bound by the Club's Code of Conduct. This requires health testing relevant to the breed, including heart testing both parents before breeding and testing puppies for portosystemic shunt, a liver condition found in the breed.

 

Ask to see the certificates. Any breeder worth buying from will expect the question and will have them ready.

 

Members are also expected to send puppies home with Royal Kennel Club registration papers, a diet sheet and rearing advice, and to remain available to their puppy owners for the life of the dog. A good breeder does not stop taking your calls once the money has changed hands.
