In 2004, the Irish Wolfhound Health Group (IWHG) was set up, initially comprising representatives from the Irish Wolfhound Club, the Irish Wolfhound Society, the Irish Wolfhound Club of Northern Ireland and the Irish Wolfhound Club of Scotland. It was formed specifically to look at health issues in a unified way and is now an independent body.

One of the major initiatives of the IWHG has been the setting up of a subsidised regional heart testing scheme which is open to all wolfhound owners. For more about the scheme, click here.
